How to Prioritize Weight Loss When You Are Busy

I know firsthand how tough it can be to fit in a healthy lifestyle when you are busy all day! It feels overwhelming, impossible, and downright exhausting. I know this because I am currently living it as a busy mom! I wanted to write this blog to give you tips on how to show up for yourself during this busy season of life because trust me, YOU ARE WORTH IT!

  1. Schedule in your workout like it’s a date with a friend or a work meeting. Treat your workout time as a priority, and if you cancel, you are canceling on yourself. If you are super limited on time, remember a 10 min workout is fabulous and nothing to be embarrassed about if that is all you can fit in. These habits add up over time! Get out your planner, check where you have some time you can free up, and schedule that workout! If you don’t know where to begin check, out fitnessblender.com or Caroline Girvin on youtube for free workouts!
  2. Meal Plan/Meal Prep: I swear, this has SAVED my budget and my waistline because if we don’t have a plan, we end up eating out or ordering take out (and that adds up quick)! Take an hour one day a week to plan out some healthy meals and schedule a time to prepare them! One of my favorite meal prep recipes can be found here or you can check out my membership subscription where I have meal plans written for you! You can check that out here.
  3. Have some backup meals at your fav fast food/restaurant stops: Let me guess, you are on the go, so you are likely stopping when/where you can to eat something, and that usually means a drive-thru, right? Well here is my tip. Use this opportunity to make better decisions. If you only have access to fast food, look at the menu and find something that could fit in your calorie deficit. It doesn’t need to be perfect but can be something you have in your back pocket when you need something. A good example of this is choosing a grilled chicken sandwich instead of fried or fruit instead of french fries! Pick and choose to make it fit for you and your lifestyle.
  4. Give up something: Time is limited so you may need to give up time from something else to make living a healthy lifestyle a priority. This one stinks because as a mom, my time is stretched so thin. Some days I want to eat junk food and sit on the couch. However, I know that isn’t going to help my goals, so I swap out things to make time for cooking, meal prep and working out. This means less TV and phone time for me or I wake up earlier so less sleep. The hard truth is, we have to make sacrifices and hard decisions for us to see a positive change. I encourage you to look at where you are dedicating your time and see if you can shuffle some things around.
  5. Don’t be afraid to use convenience items: If cooking seems overwhelming to you, utilize convenience items such as canned protein, frozen or canned veggies, canned beans, frozen meals, and microwave meals as a way to help save time. Yes, we may need to monitor sodium and other things, but choosing something like microwavable rice and veggies with rotisserie chicken is going to be a way better option than take out. Just know, you can be healthy and use these items when you need them!

You can do this, I am right there with you!!!
