I know so many of you have weight loss goals and that is awesome, but it’s hard to know where to even begin, right? Today I’m going to give you a few realistic steps you can start TODAY if you are starting your weight loss journey from scratch!
- Track what you are already eating. This is important because how can you improve if you don’t know where you are currently? There are SOOO many things you can do with your diet, but starting with what you are already doing and fixing 1-2 things will benefit you in the long run. Then, once you have an idea where you can improve overall, get your calorie deficit (I can help you in my groups on this) and start hitting some numbers!
- Start walking. You do not need a crazy exercise routine if you are wanting to lose weight. In fact, exercise can be very overwhelming, so I suggest start by walking! Schedule in a few 10-20 min walks into your week and show up like it’s a work meeting (something you wouldn’t dare miss right?). Even bring the kiddos if you need to! You got this!!
- Work on increasing things you need more of in your diet. So many diets out there just tell you what to restrict, but me? HECK no! I want to teach you what to add to your diet! Adding to your diet will help ensure you are full, satisfied, and getting the nutrients your body needs. Instead of thinking you need to restrict all junk food, think about what you can add, like: protein, water, fiber, and veggies! Over time, you can tighten up some things, but in the beginning I recommend adding so it is sustainable!
- Hit 20-30g protein at least one meal a day. Once you have worked on the other items, this is the next big step! Hitting your protein goal will make a huge difference in your weight loss journey. I recommend trying to hit at least one meal and build on it as you get better! Ways you can do this include having at least 1/4 of your plate a protein source!
- Start believing that this is possible and you CAN. The power of weight loss comes from your mindset. If you believe that this won’t work, then that is what will happen. Work on WHY you want to change and be REALSISTIC with yourself. Understand that this isn’t easy, but it is 100% possible if you stay the course and don’t give up!
