A No-Binge Vacation with No Regrets!

I just got back from a vacation with my friend Lela and wow we had a GREAT TIME. We went to Secrets Punta Cana and it was fab! All-inclusive- meaning all you can eat and drink whatever YOU WANT! Normally if I were to go on this kind of trip, I would have an all-out binge fest eating whatever I wanted and drinking anything, too. In turn, this would lead to me being super bloated, constipated, and not feeling good AT ALL! I decided I wanted to be relatively health conscious this trip and I honestly don’t regret it at all! I felt great the entire time, had regular bowel movements, and I wasn’t bloated!! Don’t get me wrong, I still drank throughout the day and enjoyed dessert if I wanted it, but I didn’t go allll out just because I could. Here are some of the things I did that helped me feel my best.

  1. I did 20-30 min workouts before going to the pool. I never thought I would be a workout girl on vacay, but I decided to try it and WOW… I am so happy I did! It honestly made me feel SO GOOD and energized and kept me in a somewhat normal routine. I kept the workouts short and sweet so it didn’t take up too much of my day either!
  2. I drank LOTS of water. I brought my tumbler with me and asked for ice at the bars and filled up on water throughout the day. I tried to drink 1-2 a day and even used some of my clean simple eats hydration mix to help me stay hydrated. You can use code BEKSLIFE to save you some money if you want to try it out!
  3. I stuck to protein, lots of fruits and veggies when I could. I didn’t want heavy food, and luckily the resort had tons of fresh food options! Every morning I had an omelet with fruit or hashbrown and a choice of meat like sausage or bacon. For lunch, I would eat chicken, veggies, cheese, and salad. They had a whole bread bar, so I would enjoy a baguette with goat cheese too! I got dessert when I wanted it, but to be honest the dessert was not that good at this resort so I mostly skipped. I didn’t restrict myself at all, however, I tried to focus on what I needed MORE of and that worked wonderfully.
  4. I stuck to champagne and lower-sugar drinks. I didn’t want to sip on sugary beverages like frozen daiquiris because those make you have way worse hangovers and contain TONS of sugar. I stuck to rum drinks or mimosas and felt great! I never got too drunk and stopped when I was at the fine line between buzzed and sloppy. My main goal was a good time with NO hangover and I succeeded!!!!
  5. I brought laxatives to help keep things moving. My GI dr recommended Wwiss Kriss: a more natural/gentle laxative. I don’t use these regularly but when I need them I definitely use them (like when I’m traveling)! I don’t know about you, but when I travel, I immediately get backed up no matter what. Alongside my healthy ish diet, these kept me regular!

Thorughout the entire vacation, I never felt like I was missing out at all, and really enjoyed my time and how I felt. I felt confident, proud, and energized and that is rare on a vaca like this. Just remember: a healthy lifestyle is 10000% worth it! I am home now and ready to get back to my deficit without feeling the need to “cleanse” or “get back on track” because truthfully I never fell off!
