New Year Intentions

Hey Friends!

2023 was an awesome year, but it was very much a growth year for me. I had just finished breastfeeding, started getting stronger in my workouts, built relationships, and really enjoyed my role as a mom. After struggling with postpartum depression for so long, it felt great to finally bond with my daughter and develop solid mom friends –  something I really needed. Because of my focus on personal relationships and mental health, my business and content took a step back. I do not regret that at all because it was what I needed at the time. Now that 2024 is here, I am excited for what is to come! I’m so hopeful for the future. Here are the things I am looking forward to and my “goals” or “intentions” for the year of 2024:

  1. Have a BABY!! I am due with my second baby in April and that means rediscovering myself again. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I had severe postpartum depression with Violet, gained a lot of weight, and struggled with my new identity. I know that I am better equipped for this phase of my life and am excited to see how my life changes with 2. My biggest goal with this is to focus on building healthy routines and habits that are realistic for my life, rebuild core strength, and focus on my family.
  2. Attempt  a “low buy “ or “ no buy” year. I realized how much money I was spending on useless clutter and I was annoyed with myself! I’ve spent the last two weeks working hard to declutter my home and realized how much better it is with less!! I’ll be showing how I am prioritizing myself still without buying something new all the time! I want to save for baby boy, some house projects, pay off our car, and travel with Michael! Here are my personal rules for my no buy:
  • Spontaneous purchases from TT or Instagram
  • Makeup, skincare, jewelry, clothes, shoes or any random “amazon find” I do not need! I will, however, allow myself to purchase makeup and skincare as I run out of a certain product I use.
  • Stationary, journals, books, puzzles, etc ( I DON’T NEED IT…I HAVE TOO MUCH)
  • Wine Memberships canceled

Low buy:

  • I will allow 1 coffee out per week.
  • 1-2x eating out per week is the goal (trying to be realistic here)
  • Clothes only if needed postpartum. I.e. nursing bras, etc.
  • I have a small monthly budget for things I want. I will still try to save this as much as I can to put into my “hot mom wardrobe” budget for when I get to a place I feel good in my body! But this allows me to get something I may want if in budget.

Ok to buy:

  • The obvious: rent, necessary bills.
  • Groceries (I will be monitoring this to see if I can set a decent monthly budget)
  • Anything I want if given a gift card
  • Theo: Nursery furniture, things baby boy will need that we don’t already have, etc..
  • Violet: Clothes/shoes as she grows, diapers, etc
  • Monthly supplements/ Protein powder AS NEEDED

I know this will be tough but so worth it when I see how much money we have saved! I also want to be happier with less overall and this will be a way to allow me to appreciate the things I do have!

  1. Reading the Bible. I really want to develop more in my spiritual journey and will be doing “the Bible Recap” with my church women’s group. I have already started and LOVE it! I know this will be challenging once baby boy is here, but I am determined to keep some sort of routine. It’s only 30 minutes per day of commitment, and I can do it all on my phone through the Bible App. I can do this during nursing sessions or contact naps with Theo!

  2. Building my social media. I really missed connecting with all of you this past year, although taking a step back was indeed needed. My hope is to continue growing as a content creator and consistently posting on YouTube, my Blog and more! Eventually I want to build up my nutrition and fitness practice as well, but one step at a time especially with a new baby! I am excited to see where things go.

If you have any goals or intentions for this year, I’d love to hear them! Comment below this post, send me a DM on Instagram or message me on Facebook 🙂
